I have a DVX 100B. The time code will not stop rolling. Even when's there's no tape. How do I stop this?

When I rewind the time code rewinds but when it's stopped the time code keeps rolling. Even when there is no tape in the camera the time code still rolls. This happen in the middle of filming a wrestling show so I don't remember the exact error message. It said something about time lock off or something to that degree. It flashed red twice and shut off twice. On the third try it recorded. But I couldn't tell when it had actually stopped because the time code kept rolling. I does say paused and rec so I knew to stop it. It's freaking me out, anyone run into this problem or know what to do?
